Sarah S. Velazquez
Sarah Samms Velázquez, PWS, CRM
is a writer and community herbalist who destigmatizes the human experience, one story at a time. Sarah’s work has appeared in several literary magazines, including NBAP Literary and Pathos. She has worn many editorial hats, but prefers to get lost in the throws of messy beginnings. Sarah studied creative writing at Portland State University, western herbalism at American College of Healthcare Sciences, and tropical plant medicine at The Wild Ginger Center.
Sarah is the founder of The Medicine House, a community herbalism project and aspiring urban herbal farm in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is currently finishing her debut book, Materia Medica: Memoirs of a Wounded Healer.
Sarah is also an avid hiker, a traveler of society's underbelly, a music nerd, and an art dabbler.

"Samm Bones epitomizes the strength, courage, and tenacity that is too often overlooked or undercelebrated in the sacred feminine. Her music is undeniably genuine and refreshingly raw - and indicative of the human ability and opportunity to overcome hardship through creative expression."-Erin Inglish Curator of Banjo Babes Comp & Calendar
